Jessica L's Perfect Weekend
Jessica Lonergan has been a consultant at Habitat since 2016. She was awarded the title of Top Leasing Agent and Highest Transactional Agent for 2019. And in 2020 Jessica earned the Top Sales Agent and Highest Transactional Agent.
Usually, I kick-start the weekend a little early with a gallery opening on Thursday night. 10 Chancery Lane is just a block from the office, so I have no excuse to check out their latest Asian contemporary artist installation.
On Saturday mornings… I have a strong cup of coffee and read the Weekend FT. I start with the Life & Arts section and end with House & Home. The front page can wait until Monday!
Lunch involves… The 'Hong Kong long lunch' is one of my favourite traditions. If in Stanley, an afternoon at Stan Cafe can feel like a quick trip to the South of France and of course, nothing beats junk boating for lunch at Po Toi (Hong Kong’s southernmost point).
Enjoying Art & Culture
Afternoons are usually… Between weekend property tours, I try to keep tabs on Hong Kong’s art and culture scene by popping into the H Queens galleries in Central. Fortunately, next to our office is the Tai Kwun Heritage compound. This venue always has something interesting on offer – from live music, restaurants, bars, theatre and contemporary art, all staged in this spectacularly renovated old police station - a true architectural gem combining heritage buildings and Herzog and de Meuron’s remarkable vision. We also love taking the Star Ferry to the newly reopened Hong Kong Museum of Modern Art followed by a little retail therapy at the remarkable new K11 Musea. What’s better than a contemporary art-inspired mall?
Dinner Party
Saturday nights we often… Host a dinner party at our flat. Best if it’s on our roof deck and under the stars. When we go out, we take visitors to meet the infamous Robbie at North Point’s Tung Po Market; he never disappoints. ABC Kitchen in Sheung Wan is also a good bet.
Indoor & Outdoor
Sunday morning is… Special Day Waffles (our family’s secret recipe) followed by hiking the Twins (a popular hill hike along Southside district) or maybe the Dragon’s Back (another popular hill hike above Shek O).
Crafter's Dream
I also love going to… Sham Shui Po in Kowloon. The energy is inspiring. My budding fashion designer daughter always has a great eye for the best bolts of fabrics and eclectic buttons sold in the hundreds of little shops lining the streets. The reward for our scavenger hunt in the sea of fabric and ribbons usually ends with lunch at the all-you-can-eat vegan buffet at MGY (188 Ki Lung Street) and an artisanal coffee next door at hipster centric COFFEE Matters.
By Sunday evening, I am… Cooking for my family. The highlight of my weekend without a doubt.
