With Christmas and New Years fast approaching, our Holiday Entertaining Guide is here. Whether you’re hosting an intimate candlelit dinner or group gathering al fresco style on your terrace, we've got you covered.
Our Founder and Managing Director Victoria Allan loves to entertain and is renowned for her memorable gatherings, whether it's her annual Dragon Boat Festival party or Christmas Carols and cocktails on her rooftop terrace. We asked her to share some of her favourite tips and tricks to make Holiday entertaining festive and fun!

Victoria invited Jodi Munro, the founder of "Mrs Chortles" to create a memorable pre-Christmas dinner at Victoria's stunning seaside Stanley home.
Jodi set up Mrs Chortles as an Event Styling and Tablescaping business in Hong Kong and Australia. Her elegant and whimsical designs focus on fresh flowers and unique touches whether it's special branches from renowned florist Grandiflora in Sydney, her original, stylised calligraphy or sourcing distinct bamboo cutlery from French brand Sabre.
She is passionate about finding just the right elements for the occasion and will go to great lengths to source it! Her stunning work has been featured everywhere from small intimate gatherings at The Carlyle Club, aboard private yachts, for Vogue HK as well as private parties in Sydney.
Jodi also hosts Tablescaping Styling workshops and this season will also be offering Wreath Making workshops. Both wonderful gift ideas or to do with a group of friends.

Fresh flowers always...
We love to head to Hong Kong's infamous flower market. One of our special vendors is Way Foong Fleur. Mrs Chortles recommends going around 6pm when it's a little quieter and relaxing. Victoria’s loves fresh peonies and tulips when in season.
Creating the ambience...
Candlelight and music are always a must. Mrs Chortles likes Danish brand Ester & Erik candles in a matt finish and it's interesting to place them at different heights along the table. The beautiful shade no. 62 'Cut Grass' will make any Christmas/Holiday table pop!

Cocktails & Mocktails...
It's always fun to have a special Holiday cocktail like a Gimlet. Recently at the Carlyle Club, they served chilled prawns in martini glasses, a fun spin on the cocktail meets hors d'ouvres!
It's also thoughtful to have a good selection of non-alcoholic drinks on offer - there's so many delicious 'mocktails' and ciders available these days.
French Fromage...
Victoria loves to do a large cheese board rather than dessert - there's a fabulous vendor 'Raymond' right in the heart of Stanley market with a wonderful selection of French cheeses, fresh produce, bread and an extensive range of other international delicatessen items. Add in some chocolate too for those guests with a sweet tooth!
The more the merrier...
Never worry about even numbers for a dinner, the more the merrier! In Hong Kong there's always someone visiting or a friend in town so it's easy to squeeze a few more places on the end...even if you make it buffet style to accommodate extra numbers
Make it fun...
Victoria loves to add music, whether it's a live band, small quartet, solo guitarist or DJ - it adds a fun vibe and gets people in the mood and up to dance!
