There are a multitude of things to do in Sai Kung Hong Kong. Popular with day trippers, Sai Kung and its surrounding areas are renowned for their pristine white sandy beaches and country parks for picnicking, hiking, or even seeing the water buffalo who venture into some of the more remote rural areas near Sai Kung Country Park.
For sailors, a members-only Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club restaurant commands superb scenic views towards luxurious boats moored in Shelter Cove.
Beaches such as Sai Wan Beach, Tai Long Wan, Sha Ha Beach, Ham Tin Beach, and Hap Mun Bay Beach are stunningly beautiful, where the white sand and clear seas feel almost as if you're holidaying in another tropical island outside of Hong Kong!
Swimmers and watersport enthusiasts can try out kayaking, SUP, snorkelling, and other activities at several of these beaches. The Sai Kung waterfront promenade, Sai Kung pier, and Pak Sha Wan pier are home to many speedboats for hire that will readily take you to these beaches or other outlying islands for even more exploration.
For those who prefer the mountains, Sai Kung has many hiking trails. Hike portions of the infamous MacLehose Trail starting from Sai Wan Pavilion down to the beach, or really get your heart rate up by climbing Sharp Peak.

Amenities
An array of supermarkets, cafes, malls, salons, pubs and Chinese seafood restaurants all await to be enjoyed in Sai Kung. Chuen Kee Seafood Restaurant on Man Nin Street and Sing Kee Seafood Restaurant on Sai Kung Tai Street remain some of the best Sai Kung restaurants popular amongst Hong Kong's locals and overseas visitors. There are also plenty of market stalls and restaurants available in Sai Kung Old Town and around Sai Kung Building.
You can explore Clearwater Bay Country Park or swim at the popular Clearwater Bay Second Beach. There's also some great restaurants to try as well, including St. Barts on Clearwater Bay Road which is a perfect spot for brunches and wine dinners.
Transport
There's plenty of options to get to Sai Kung, but do plan ahead in case of traffic, especially on weekends.
For the most convenient and comfort, a private car or taxi is recommended. However, public and minibuses are readily available throughout Sai Kung Town. There are many public transport interchanges around Sai Kung Town Center and Sai Kung waterfront that will head back to various locations in Hong Kong. Driving from Sai Kung to Central takes roughly 40 minutes and from Clearwater Bay, it’s 35 minutes.
Alternatively, you can take a bus or taxi to the MTR at nearby Hang Hau station which is a 25-minute train ride to Central. To get to Clearwater Bay, you can also start your journey from Hang Hau MTR station.
